Alfred State College launches Freeway Scholarships to lower tuition for students across the country.

Scholarship provides ASC in-state tuition of $7,070 to all residential students enrolling for fall 2023.

New students from any state in the country can now receive a scholarship at Alfred State College (ASC) that reduces tuition to match ASC’s in-state rate of only $7,070. The new Freeway Scholarship is good for all first-time full-time residential students starting in the fall of 2023. With national rankings for academic quality and a convenient location close to the center of the Northeast, ASC Freeway Scholarships provide students with another reason to choose Alfred State.

Vice President for Enrollment Management Betsy Penrose said, “Freeway Scholarships are your path to an incredible value to find the school that’s best for you and your budget.  Many students assume the tuition in their home state is a bargain but going to the big public university in any northeastern state may be more expensive than what we offer with the new ASC Freeway Scholarships. Many Alfred State Pioneers already come from New York City, New Jersey, and across Pennsylvania.”

Students can enjoy this low cost for tuition without sacrificing quality. Alfred State is honored for its work assisting first-generation and low-income families to achieve their college dreams. ASC is funding the new Freeway Scholarships to assist even more families across the region. Alfred is only a day’s drive for students from Boston on the east coast, Chicago to the west, or for students from Virginia to the south.

A member college of the acclaimed State University of New York (SUNY), Alfred State is ranked as the No. 1 SUNY Regional College by US News and World Report year after year. Students will find applied learning in every major, 200+ labs and hands-on experiences, and an employment and continuing education rate of 98 percent. Alfred State also boasts Top 10 in the US rankings for students seeking dozens of available majors.

Located along the I-86 freeway, people living within 350 miles of Alfred State are equal to a third of the US population according to NASA’s Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC). ASC is away from big city worries and yet, in the center of the entire Northeast. Here students find a tight-knit and caring community with a 16:1 student to faculty ratio. The picture-perfect college town also offers outdoor recreation and beautiful scenery in what is known as the Western New York Wilds.

ASC Freeway Scholarships are only available at Alfred State College and expand on SUNY’s systemwide in-state tuition match program, which applies to prospective students in eight states. To be eligible, students outside of New York simply apply, be accepted, and the Alfred State scholarship will be applied for new residential students starting fall 2023. ASC Freeway Scholarships are renewable for up to four years by maintaining full-time residential student status and good academic standing.
