As finals approach, Alfred State College (ASC) students enjoyed two study break opportunities this weekend.

On Friday evening, the Office of Student Engagement hosted a de-stress fest that included multiple activities including finals survival kits, a smash room, do-it-yourself stress balls and slime, and coloring. The event was free to all students.

A late night breakfast highlighted Sunday evening, as students got ready for the final week of the semester. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage, and a variety of pastries highlighted the menu. The ACES staff prepared the food while members of the Alfred State administration team, including Dr. Gregory Sammons, Danielle White, Spencer Peavey, and Russ Nunley served. A prize raffle was held for the students as well.

Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Greg Sammons expressed appreciation for the event. “What a great turnout with almost three-hundred students coming together for this communal meal to de-stress, eat, enjoy each other’s company, and just…breathe. Music was playing and our student community had time to share a piece of their fall semester experience going into finals. We enjoyed serving and encouraging the students as they came through and it is the type of event where you can literally feel the sense of community in your midst.”
