Alfred State College sophomore wide receiver Mike Septh (Monroe Woodbury) has been named the NJCAA Offensive Player of the Week and the Region III Male Athlete of the Week.  Septh helped the Pioneers to a 27-6 victory over Berean Institute on Saturday.

Mike SepthAlfred State College sophomore wide receiver Mike Septh (Monroe Woodbury) has been named the NJCAA Offensive Player of the Week and the Region III Male Athlete of the Week.  Septh helped the Pioneers to a 27-6 victory over Berean Institute on Saturday.

Septh caught seven passes for 127 yards and two scores.  He caught a 32-yard pass from running back Jason Brand (Springfield, VA) on a halfback pass and a 31-yard pass from Jermell Corbitt (Naples, FL) to seal the victory in the second half.

Septh has 32 catches ofr 754 yards and 9 scores on the season.  He has recorded five 100-yard receiving games in seven games thus far this season.

Septh is the second Pioneer football player (John Chisolm) to be honored by the NJCAA and the second A-State athlete to earn Region athlete of the week honors (Jenni Jerome-Volleyball).

The Pioneers (3-4) travel to Erie CC for a big Region III contest with the Kats.  Opening kick-off is at 1 p.m. at the Orchard Park Campus
