The Alfred State College wrestling team could not overcome four forfeits and fell 33-12 to Mercyhurst North East in a WNYAC dual match.  The Pioneers fall to 1-5 on the season while the Saints improve to 5-5 on the season.

Mercyhurst North East got three straight forfeit victories to start the evening at 157, 165, and 174 to jump out to a 18-0 lead.  Jordan Hughson (Holley) downed Nathan Kucnick 7-5 in overtime at 184 lbs. to make it 18-3.  Another forfeit at 197 increased the Saints lead to 24-3.

Nick Maxworthy made it 27-3 with a 7-1 win in the heavyweight match.  Greg Saumenig earned a 2nd period pin the 125 match to cap the scoring for the Saints.

Alfred took the final three matches of the night to close the gap to 33-12.  Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) downed James Henderson 3-2 at 133 to improve to 14-2 on the season.  Mike Gustafason (Warren Area) earned a 9-4 win over Matt Krysiak at 141 and Devin Hennessey (Bridgewataer-Raynham, MA) ended the evening with a 12-7 victory over Shaun Spath at 149.

The Pioneers will travel to the Jamestown CC Open on Saturday before return home next Wednesday for another WNYAC dual match versus Niagara CCC.
