Matthew J. Ryan joined the Alfred State staff in 2002. Prior to assuming his current position as senior director of Residential Services in 2012, he served as the Director of Student Affairs for the Wellsville campus. He has also held a number of positions in both Student Conduct and Residential Life.
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from SUNY Cortland, and a Master of Public Administration from SUNY Brockport. He was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2016.
Ryan currently holds professional affiliations with NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, ACUHO-I Association of College and University Housing Officers International, and CSPA- College Student Personnel Association of New York State.
