Alfred State College sophomore Neil Wilson (Fort Worth, TX) has been named the Region III male athlete of the week.  Wilson, the Pioneers leading scorer, scored 48 points in two games for the blue & gold.

Wilson had a career high 33 points in a 85-83 victory over Niagara CCC on Saturday that clinched a first round home playoff game for Alfred State.  His biggest shot of the game came with 6.8 seconds left when he broke a 83-83 tie with a long two-point jumper.  He finished the day 10 for 17 from the field including 7 for 11 from three-point land.

Earlier in the week he led Alfred State with 15 points and they battled NJCAA Division II #1 ranked Erie CC.

For the year, Wilson is averging 16.1 points per game and 4.2 rebounds.  He has connected on 73 three-pointers and has passed out 108 assists.

ASC and NCCC battle this evening in the first round of the Region III Division II Tournament.  Opening tip-off at the Orvis Activities Center is slated for 6 p.m.
