The Alfred State College baseball team jumped out to early leads in both halves of a doubleheader at Lackawanna College but the Falcons rallied for victories in both games, 9-8 and 9-5.  The Pioneers fall to 4-9 on the season.

In the opener, ASC scored four in the first but had to rally for three runs in the 7th to tie the game only to see Matt Rossi hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 7th to lead the Falcons to the victory.

Berto Vargas (Norman Thomas) was 2 for 5 with 3 RBI including the game-tying two-out, two-run single in the 7th inning.  Brian Ervay (Elmira Free) was only other Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 4 with an RBI.

In the nightcap, ASC scored three in the first and led 5-2 heading into the 5th but Lackawanna rallied for seven runs (five in the 6th) to earn the sweep.

Steve Smith (Hornell) was 3 for 5 to pace the offense while Jake Dale (Keshequa) was 2 for 4.  Kyle Binder (Hornell) allowed three earned runs in 4.2 innings of work but did not factor in the decision.

A scheduled doubleheader at Hagerstown CC on Sunday was cancelled due to poor weather so the blue and gold will next take the field on Thursday when they travel to Corning CC for a 2 p.m. contest with the Red Barons.
