The Alfred State College women's basketball team held on for a 56-55 victory over Jamestown CC in their regular season finale.  The Lady Pioneers finish the regular season with a 10-13 mark (5-5 Region III Division II) while JCC falls to 17-11 (6-4 Region III Division II).

The Alfred State College women's basketball team held on for a 56-55 victory over Jamestown CC in their regular season finale.  The Lady Pioneers finish the regular season with a 10-13 mark (5-5 Region III Division II) while JCC falls to 17-11 (6-4 Region III Division II).

ASC jumped out to an early 17-4 lead and led 26-20 at halftime.  JCC kept cutting into the lead and had the ball in the closing seconds trailing 56-53.  Sierra Finch was fouled taking a three-pointer with less than two seconds left and hit the first two shots before the third shot rimmed out.  Megan Coates (Nazareth) grabbed the missed foul shot to seal the victory.

Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) led the way with 22 points and 13 rebounds.  Gina Moss (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) added 10 points and eight rebounds while Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) finished with 10 points.  Kristin Abbott (Webster Thomas) chipped in eight points and eight rebounds while Sherelle Brooks (Elmira Free) passed out nine assists.

Karri Barmore led the Jayhawks with 18 points and nine rebounds while Taylor Lubi came off the bench and chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds. 

The Lady Pioneers shot just 29.6% (21 for 71) from the field but used a 55 to 45 advantage on the board.  JCC shot 32.8% (20 for 61) and just 26.7% (4 for 15) from three.

Alfred State now awaits word on seeding for the Region III Division II Tournament which is scheduled to begin on Thursday February 26.  ASC will most likely play at home as either the #3 or #4 seed.  The official announcement of seeding will be on Monday morning.
