Pioneer Men Finish 5th, Women 7th at Monroe Invite

The Alfred State swimming team finished up competition at the three-day Monroe CC Invitational. The men's team finished 5th with 202 points while the women finished 7th with 62 points.

The Alfred State swimming team finished up competition at the three-day Monroe CC Invitational. The men's team finished 5th with 202 points while the women finished 7th with 62 points.


Sanjay Raman (Owego Free) was 2nd in the 200 fly (2:19.21)The 800 free relay team of Tyler Easterbook (Bath), Mark Pendleton (Beacon), Josh McDowell (Wayland Cohocton), and Kalem Chambliss (Alfred Almond) finished 4th in 8:37.35.  McDowell was also 8th in the 100 free (56.38)


Danielle Thone (Wappingers Falls/Roy Ketcham) led the women's squad with a 3rd place finish in the 200 fly (2:31.42).  Christy Dodd (Windsor) was 5th in the 200 back (2:35.30) while Christine Reil (Niagara Wheatfield) was 11th in the 100 free (1:05.94).


Monroe CC won the men's competition with 672 points, Alfred's 202 points was just eight behind 4th place Jamestown CC.  Buffalo State won the women's competition with 617.5 points.


Alfred hosts Monroe CC on Wednesday in their lone home meet of the year.  Action is slated to start at 6 p.m.
