Women's Soccer Moves Up to #4 in Poll

Riding an eight-game winning streak, the Alfred State women's soccer team moved up one spot in this week's NJCAA Division III poll. The blue & gold now hold the #4 spot in the top ten poll after holding the #5 spot the past two weeks.

Riding an eight-game winning streak, the Alfred State women's soccer team moved up one spot in this week's NJCAA Division III poll.  The blue & gold now hold the #4 spot in the top ten poll after holding the #5 spot the past two weeks.


The Lady Pioneers are now 8-1 on the season and 7-0 in Region III Division III play.  After losing their season opener to Monroe College (Bronx), Alfred has rattled off eight straight wins in which they have outscored opponents 31 to 3. 


Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) leads the team with 32 points on 13 goals and six assists.  Hannah Holmok (Alfred Almond) has six goals and three assists while Taylor Dezio (Marion) has four goals and an assist.


Defensively, Krista DeCarlo (Bayshore/West Islip) has a 0.68 goals against average in eight games of action.  She has two solo shutouts and has been part of three others.  In front of her, Maura Tuffey (Albany/Holy Names), Kelsey Murray (Greece Olympia), and Kelly Stieve (Brockport) have limited opponents opportunities with solid defense.


Ocean County College continues to be on top of the poll followed by Finger Lakes CC and Mohawk Valley CC.  The Lady Pioneers travel to FLCC on Oct. 9th for a top-five showdown with the Lady Lakers.


Bunker Hill (MA) CC is 5th, Holyoke (MA) CC is 6th, Anne Arundel (MD) CC is 7th, Herkimer CCC is 8th, Brookhaven (TX) College is 9th, and Richland (TX) College is 10th.  Alfred and Herkimer battle at Pioneer Stadium on Oct. 6th.


The Lady Pioneers travel to Erie CC on Thursday for a 3 p.m. contest with the Kats before hosting Cayuga CC at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
