The Alfred State volleyball team knocked off #7 Niagara CCC in a five game thriller, 25-19, 14-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-11. The Lady Pioneers improve to 13-4 on the year while the Lady Thunderwolves are now 11-2.
Michelle Wesolowski (Attica) led the way with 11 kills, seven digs, and three aces while Mallory Eberhardt (Lyons) finished with 18 digs and seven kills. Lera Braun (Waterloo) passed out 27 assists, Jackie Lieb (Hornell) had six aces and two kills, and Mercedes Bossard (Hornell) added 10 digs.
The Lady Pioneer, who have received votes in the last two NJCAA DIII polls, are now in 1-2 in Western New York Athletic Conference play.
Alfred and Niagara meet up again on Saturday at the Erie CC Pod. They match up at approximately 10:45 a.m. The Lady Pioneers will also battle Erie CC and Jamestown CC on the day played at the Flickenger Center in downtown Buffalo.
