The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd on a RBI double by Ryan Hierlwimmer (Livonia) and a RBI groundout by Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton).  Hiswasee rallied for the next five runs before the Pioneers tied it up with three of their own in the top of the 5th.  Garrett Hoag (Dansville) recorded the big hit with a two RBI triple.  He came around to tie the game on a sac fly by Hierlwimmer.

The Pioneers scored a single run in the 6th on a fielders choice and made it 7-5 on a wild pitch in the top of the 8th.

Hiwassee was able to plate the tying run on an error in the 9th and scored the winning run on a fielder choice when the game winning run beat the throw home from the Pioneer shortstop.

Hoag led the offense with a 2 for 3 day.  He had a double and a triple and 2 RBI.  Hierlwimmer finished 1 for 4 with a RBI, and Daiki Iizuka (Chiba, Japan) was 1 for 3 with three runs scored.

Eric Mehaffy (Lisbon) kept the Pioneers in the game out of the bullpen.  He allowed three earned runs in five innings of relief but was the tough luck loser.
