The Alfred State College indoor track & field team competed in Geneva, OH at the SPIRE North Coast Open on Saturday.  Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) qualified for the NJCAA National Championships with a strong performance in the 800 m.

The Alfred State College indoor track & field team competed in Geneva, OH at the SPIRE North Coast Open on Saturday.  Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) qualified for the NJCAA National Championships with a strong performance in the 800 m.

Wilson finished 7th overall in the 800 m in 2:23.51 to qualify for the Nationals.  She joins David Miller (Elmira Southside) who qualified last weekend in the pole vault.

Miller was the top male performer winning the pole vault competition.  His winning vault was 4.55 m.  Travis Nagle (Randolph) was 5th in the event (4.10 m) and Jordan Friedman (West Nyack) was 7th (3.95 m).

Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts) was 3rd in the 200 (26.72), Megan Votava (Alfred Almond) was 4th in the pole vault (2.30 m), and the 4x400 relay team of Dorsey, Claire Holleran (Penfield), Caitlyn Hotchkiss (Springville), and Murphy finished 7th in 4:22.39.

Nagle also earned a 4th place finish in the high jump (1.85 m) and Robert Howard (Syracuse/Nottingham) was 7th in the shot put (13.51 m).

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday when they head to Bucknell University for the Bison Invitational.
