In the true spirit of the season, BP donated the funding for this community holiday event; the United Way and Salvation Army collaborated on identifying those families who could benefit from this event; and the culinary arts faculty, staff, and students volunteered their time to prepare the festive meal.

According to Chef Brent Kelley, culinary arts assistant professor, “In my 13 years of teaching at Alfred State College, I have had many gratifying moments while working with the school and our students. However, at no time have I been more pleased with and proud of our students than at [last evening’s] inaugural BP community holiday event. Not only did we receive tremendous support from the faculty and staff, but we had 25 students volunteer their time and effort to assist with and prepare the meal. Given the fact that we have fewer than 100 students in the combined curriculums overall, I think this is a great testament to their commitment, dedication, and generosity.”

Kelley continued, “We are grateful too, that in recognition of the students’ support, BP donated $1,000 to the Top Hat Scholarship fund.”

The students involved included Ekiah Brooks, Rochester; Rachel Dickey, Jeffersonville; Eric Shovah, Fort Edward; Chris Cooper, Wellsville; Brian Evans, Silver Springs; Alison Hadley, East Aurora; Allyson Alperin-Rosen, Watkins Glen; Nzingha Harris, Ozone Park; Sheeanna Milton, Cuba; Sam Corporan, Bronx; Stephanie Woodcock, Corning; Tayana Dieudonne, Staten Island; Edwin Guadalupe, Bronx; Beverly Coats, Bronx; Jodie Fox, Andover; Donnell Wilson, Rochester; Dario Squires, Brooklyn; Sarah Forenz, Jasper; Clare Holleran, Penfield; Lauren Lynn, Auburn; Tsu Zhu, Flushing; Louis Colaruotolo, Rochester; Hannah Johnson, Fairport; Britney Bradley, Monticello; and Nina Rindone, Rockville Centre.
