The Alfred State College wrestling team was doubled up by Niagara CCC 30-15 in a WNYAC dual match on Friday evening.  The Pioneers fall to 1-3 on the season heading into tomorrow's ASC Duals.

The Alfred State College wrestling team was doubled up by Niagara CCC 30-15 in a WNYAC dual match on Friday evening.  The Pioneers fall to 1-3 on the season heading into tomorrow's ASC Duals.

The Thunderwolves won the first three matches to build a 13-0 lead before Matt Sowers (Whitesboro) earned a pin in 52 seconds to get the Pioneers on the board.  NCCC won an close 6-5 decision in the next match at 184 lbs before Dondrey Sharrock (Sleepy Hollow) earened an 11-5 win to cut it to 16-9.

The Pioneers wouldn't get any closer as they fell in the next three matches to trail 30-9.  In the heavyweight match, Zach Race (Fulton/G Ray Bodley) and Bashar Srouji battled into triple OT prior to Srouji coming up with a 5-4 victory.

In the final match of the night, James Barlow (Wayland Cohocton) pinned his opponent in 1:04 to cut the deficit to 30-15.

The Pioneers welcome NCCC, Jamestown CC, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, and SUNY Cobleskill club to the Orvis Activities Center.  ASC takes on Thaddeus Stevens at Noon to start the day featuring three mats of action.
