Pioneers Win HCCC Fall Invite

The Alfred State College men's swimming team won the Herkimer CCC Fall Invitational on Saturday while the women's team finished 5th.

The Alfred State College men's swimming team won the Herkimer CCC Fall Invitational on Saturday while the women's team finished 5th.

Braden Kozlowski (N. Tonawanda) was a triple winner to lead the Pioneers.  He won the 200 free (1:56.95), the 200 back (2:20.65), and the 500 free (5:20.12).

Talon Schroeder (Norwich) won the 1650 free (19:48.28) while Jake Giglio (Hornell) won the 50 free (23.65).  Mark Pendleton (Beacon) finished 2nd in three events.  He swam the 400 IM in 5:05.93, the 200 breast in 2:38.60, and the 500 free in 5:41.72.  Josh Stellrecht (Oakfield Alabama) was 2nd in the 1650 free (20:24.48)

The 400 free relay team of Giglio, Stellrecht, Josh McDowell (Wayland Cohocton), and Kozlowski won with a time of 3:40.14.

The Pioneers scored 313 on the day ahead of Genesee CC's 266.  Jamestown CC was 3rd with 195, SUNY Delhi 4th with 163, and Herkimer was 5th with 83.

Erin Baum (Dryden) won the 200 fly (3:09.22) to lead the Lady Pioneers team of two.  Maggie McBurney (Jamesville Dewitt) was 3rd in the 400 IM (6:19.83) and was 4th in the 200 back (3:00.21).

The Pioneers have the Thanksgiving week off before returning to action on Friday Dec. 2 when they begin competition in the three-day Monroe CC Invitational.
