In their final race before the Region III Championships, Alfred State competed at the annual University of Rochester Invitational.  The women were the top NJCAA team finisher and 12th overall while the men finished 16th.

In their final race before the Region III Championships, Alfred State competed at the annual University of Rochester Invitational.  The women were the top NJCAA team finisher and 12th overall while the men finished 16th.

Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) was the top Lady Pioneer finisher.  She finished the 5k course in 21:38 to earn 78th place.  Diana Burley (Warsaw) was 81st (21:41), Kim Lupo (Auburn) was 90th (21:56), and Emily Geesaman (Addison) was 114th (22:29).  ASC scored 331 points in the race that featured 178 runners.  Cornell University won the women's title.

Brian Gooshaw (Elmira Heights/Thomas Edison) was the top male finisher for the Pioneers.  He finished 103rd in 29:33.  Tom Anderson (Sodus) was 151st (31:47), Tom Lattanzi (Kings Park) was 155th (32:35), and Eric Ransley (Midlakes) was 160th (33:11).  ASC scored 480 points in the race that had 187 finishers.  Host U of R was the men's champion.

The Pioneers now have two weeks to prepare for the Region III Championships which will be held on Oct. 29th at Alfred State College.
