The Alfred State College outdoor track & field team opened up their season at the Battleground Relays hosted by Mary Washington University (Fredericksburg, VA).

Byron Jones (Niagara Falls) won the triple jump with a leap of 45'8" while Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts) was 5th in the women's competition with a jump of 33'1".

Andy Jones (Milford Academy) was 2nd and recorded the 10th best throw in school history in the hammer throw (135'7") while Chris Greay (Tri-Valley) was 3rd (129'6").

The men's 4x800 relay team of Marcquis Johnson-Broughton (Rochester/Edison), Isiah Whiting (Hamden, CT), Russel Yerger-Moe (Wales Center/Iroquois), and Ken Boyer (Albion) finished 5th in 8:20.34.

Megan Votava (Alfred Almond) recorded a 5th place finish in the javelin with a toss of 75'3"

Action continues tomorrow and runs all day.
