Harrington and Murphy Qualify for Nationals

Brett Harrington (Rochester/Edison) and Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) registered NJCAA Division I National Championships qualifying performances on Saturday at the Kane Invitational at Cornell University.

Harrington qualified for Nationals in the 60 m hurdles by finishing 2nd overall with a time of 8.31.  Murphy finished 7th in the 800 m to qualify (2:24.26) for her second event.

In other action, the women's 4x400 relay team of Murphy, Pam Breedlove (Rochester/East), Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts), and Shatara Noble (Rochester/Marshall) finished 5th (4:17.07) while the men's team of Marcquis Johnson-Broughton (Rochester/Edison), Russel Yerger-Moe (Wales Center/Iroquois), Isiah Whiting (Hamden, CT), and Rony St. Simon (Farmingdale) finished 6th (3:31.57).

Rawl Crawford (Mt. Vernon) was 11th in the 400 (51.95) and Andy Jones (Milford Academy) finished 12th in the weight throw (13.73).

In the Region III heptathlon, Alex Hewlett (Wellsville) was 5th (3,288), Jordan Friedman (Clakstown South) was 6th (3,265), and Austin Ridley (Trumansburg) was 7th (3,258).

The Pioneers head to RIT on Friday evening to compete in the Region III Championships.
