Miller Qualifies for Indoor Nationals

David Miller (Elmira Southside) qualified for the NJCAA indoor track & field national championships by winning the pole vault at the Susquehanna University Orange & Maroon Classic.  In total, the Pioneers won four events on the day.

David Miller (Elmira Southside) qualified for the NJCAA indoor track & field national championships by winning the pole vault at the Susquehanna University Orange & Maroon Classic.  In total, the Pioneers won four events on the day.

Miller cleared 4.40 m to win the pole vault event and punch his ticket for the indoor nationals March 4-5 at Texas Tech.  Teammate Jordan Traina (Gates Chili) was 3rd with a vault of 3.85.

James Courte (Brewster) won the triple jump (12.29), Rawle Crawford (Mt. Vernon) won the 400 m (52.56), and the women's 4 x 400 relay team of Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts), Shatara Noble (Rochester/John Marshall), Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson), and Jessica Stewart (Bronx/Herbert Lehman) ran a fast 4:21.44 to win.

Brett Harrington (Rochester/Edison) was 2nd in the 55 m hurdles (7.85) and 3rd in the 55 m dash (6.76).  Andy Jones (Milford Central) was 2nd in the weight throw (13.27 m), Ken Boyer (Albion) was 3rd in the 400 m (53.44), Austin Ridley (Trumansburg) was 4th in the triple jump (11.64), Crawford was 4th in the 200 m (23.72), and Byron Jones (Niagara Falls) was 5th in the long jump (5.95 m).

The men's 4 x 400 relay team of Boyer, Marquis Johnson-Broughton (Rochester/Edison), Miller, and Isiah Whiting (Hamden, CT) finished 2nd in 3:34.92.

On the women's side, Dorsey was 2nd in the 200 m (27.82), Murphy was 2nd in the 800 (2:29.27), and Noble was 4th in the 55m dash (7.87).

The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Geneva, OH to compete in the Lake Erie College Invitational.
