Swim Team Dives into 2011

In their first competition in nearly six weeks, the Alfred State College swimming team dove into 2011 at the Erie CC Invitational.  The men's team finished 3rd out of seven with 192 points while the women were 6th with 29 points.

In their first competition in nearly six weeks, the Alfred State College swimming team dove into 2011 at the Erie CC Invitational.  The men's team finished 3rd out of seven with 192 points while the women were 6th with 29 points.

Ethan Wright (Clyde Savannah) led the way with a 3rd place finish in the 200 fly (2:25.43) and a 5th place finish in the 100 free (52.11).  Josh Stellrecht (Oakfield Alabama) was 4th in the 200 back (2:31.56) while Jake Giglio (Hornell) was 5th in the 50 free (23.12) and 7th in the 100 free (54.49).  Tim Guarino (Cornwall) was 6th in the 200 breast (2:46.37).

In relay action, the 800 free relay team of Stellrecht, Wade Harrington (Campbell Savona), Giglio, and Wright finished 2nd (8:29.26).  The 400 medley relay team of Stellrecht, Guarino, Wright, and Giglio finished 3rd (4:17.11).

On the women's side Erin Baum (Dryden) was 6th in the 200 fly (3:12.04) and 9th in the 200 back (2:55.66).

The blue & gold return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Jamestown CC for a 6 p.m. WNYAC meet.
