Men’s Cross Country Wins FLCC Invite, Women 2nd

The Alfred State College men’s cross country team won their second straight invitational taking home the crown at the FLCC Bruce Bridgeman Invitational.  The women’s team finished 2nd.

The Alfred State College men’s cross country team won their second straight invitational taking home the crown at the FLCC Bruce Bridgeman Invitational.  The women’s team finished 2nd.

Alex Farrell (N. Tonawanda) led the Pioneers with a 3rd place finish.  He crossed the finish line of the 8k in 29:35.  Joe Seitz (Williamsville North) finished 4th (29:36), Frank Mastraccio (Rome Free) was 5th (29:36), and Tyler Pettit (Mexico) was 6th (29:55).  Ryan Demers (Mexico) rounded out the top five with a 8th place finish (29:59).

ASC, ranked #2 in Division III of the NJCAA, scored a 26 ahead of Mohawk Valley CC’s 57 and Broome CC’s 61.  FLCC was 4th with 88.

On the women’s side Abbey Benton (Frewsburg) raced the 5k course to a 3rd place finish in 22:24.  Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) was 6th (23:03), Alison Hadley (Mt. Mercy) was 12th (25:42), and Zinta Rutins (Silver Spring, MD) was 16th (28:55).

The Lady Pioneers, ranked #9 in NJCAA Division III, scored a 55 and trailed MVCC’s 22 points.  FLCC was 3rd with 58 and Broome did not have a full team.

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday at Houghton College Invitational.
