The women's 4 x 800 relay team won a regional championship on Friday in day one of the Region III Championships held at SUNY Delhi.

The team of Bridget McMahon (Avoca), Kelsey Wissert (Scio), Yakima Williams (Brooklyn/Franklin Lane), and Carey Crooker (Addison) won the 4x800 in a time of 10:27.6

Emily Johns (Bath) was 2nd in the high jump (1.45 m) while Emily Fields (Red Creek) was 2nd in the hammer throw (34.44 m) and 4th in the discus (28.54).

On the men's side Adam Kellogg (Wellsville) qualified for the national championships with a 4th place finish in the discus (38.13 m).  The 4x800 relay team of Logan Drummer (Pioneer), Kris Heidrick (Allegany Limestone), Pete Francia (Greece Olympia), and Brandon Lewis (Red Creek) finished 4th in a season best 8:15.8.  Andy Jones (Milford) was 4th in the hammer throw (34.14) while Jon Butts (Gates Chili) was 6th (32.55 m).

The regional championship continues tomorrow with a team champion crowned late in the afternoon.
