Four Alfred State College students were recently inducted into the college’s chapter of the Psi Beta National Honor Society in psychology for two-year colleges.
The new inductees are Elise Brown, Friendship, a liberal arts and sciences: social science major; Courtney Schroeder, Wellsville, a liberal arts and sciences: social science major; and Chelcy Warner, Wellsville, a human services major.
To qualify for membership, one must have completed at least nine credit hours in psychology at Alfred State College with a minimum of a 3.0 grade average (out of a possible 4.0) in those nine hours. Also the student must have a minimum of a 3.0 overall GPA. Students must be recommended by a faculty member and have a strong interest in the field of psychology.
Joseph D. Foreman, professor, Social and Behavioral Sciences, serves as the faculty adviser to the honor society chapter. Psi Beta chapters sponsor programs, activities, and participation in community service projects along with opportunities to present research papers at regional meetings, attend national meetings, and compete for national awards. Psi Beta is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American psychological Association and the American Psychological Society.
