“Coming to Alfred State I was nervous about making friends, but it was super easy to meet new people and learn about people from across the country.”

Rachel Hooper (Eden, NY) knew she wanted to go into diagnostic medical sonography, and she found the perfect fit at Alfred State.

“When I was looking for a college I really wanted to go into sonography and Alfred State had the program and it was close to home so it worked out perfectly. I was looking into the medical field and sonography was really the only thing that stuck out to me. It seemed to have all the things that I wanted.”

Rachel loves that the program is hands-on and that she gets personal attention from her professors.

“We get to go in the lab and actually scan each other. We are learning by doing. My professors are very helpful whenever we have questions.”

Outside of class, Rachel enjoys her job in the admissions office and exploring the nature around campus.

“I enjoy working in the admissions office as a caller. I call future Pioneers helping them with any questions they have. I also love being outside. There is a lot of beautiful nature around here and I love exploring with friends and going on different hikes around Alfred.”

Rachel’s favorite place on campus other than her dorm room is the Evergreen Café. When there she can hangout out and enjoy a nice drink with one of her friends.
