Alfred State provided the combination of academics and athletics for Sarah Rivet. She found success in the classroom as a forensic science technology major and was able to compete on the cross country course and on the track.
“The forensic science program is an accredited program that really prepares you for the workforce and Alfred State has a really good track program with a coach that I really was interested in competing for.”
Sarah’s experiences with her professors and in the lab have prepared her for her career. “The professors are just so personable and super knowledgeable at what they do. They are always there to help.”
“The labs and lectures are super hands-on. You are constantly learning theory and then you are doing them in the lab. You are constantly working with the materials you are learning in class, and it really helps you understand the concepts.”
Her experiences in the labs and in her internship have prepared Sarah for the next steps of her journey. “Our labs are thorough, and we use state-of-the-art equipment that is imperative to our learning. In my internship with a biotech tech company, I felt super prepared.”
Competing in athletics has been an important part of Sarah’s experiences at Alfred State. “The coaches really care about you, and they want you to do well. They make a huge difference. Everyone competes, sets goals, and works on hitting some personal records.”
