Women 3rd, Men 4th at Indoor Regionals

The Alfred State College women's indoor track & field team finished 3rd while the men finished 4th at the 2010 Region III Indoor Championships held in conjunction with RIT's Last Chance meet.  The women scored 80 points while the men scored 94.

The Alfred State College women's indoor track & field team finished 3rd while the men finished 4th at the 2010 Region III Indoor Championships held in conjunction with RIT's Last Chance meet.  The women scored 80 points while the men scored 94.

Pam Breedlove (Rochester/East) was a double Region III champion.  She won the long jump with a leap of 4.58 m and ran to the 55 m dash title in 7.71.  She also finished 2nd in the 200 (28.23).

Bridget McMahon (Avoca) won the 1 mile race in 5:35.95 while Carey Crooker (Addison) was 2nd in the 800 m (2:28.02).

On the men's side Eddie Sparks (Horseheads) won the pole vault competition and qualified for the NJCAA Championships with a vault of 4.45 m.  The nationals will be held March 5-6 in Charleston, IL.  Steven Hickey (Rochester/Aquinas) was 2nd with a leap of 3.82 m.

Pete Francia (Greece Olympia) won the 3,000 (9:19.18) while John Sweeney (Barker) won the 5,000 (16:29.25).  Ian Marshall (Bronx/DeWitt Clinton) was 2nd in the 200 m (23.73) and the 400 (52.10) while Logan Drummer (Pioneer) was 2nd in the 1,000 (2:39.89).

Mohawk Valley CC won the women's regional title with 174 points followed by SUNY Delhi's 116, ASC's 80, and Erie CC's 56.

SUNY Delhi won the men's title with 175 points followed by MVCC's 168 and ECC's 149. 

A few Pioneer athletes will travel to New York City to the Armory next weekend to compete in the Last Chance meet.
