Wilson Hits Game Winner in Final Seconds

Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) capped a career night by hitting a game winning jumper with seven seconds left to lift Alfred State to a key 85-83 victory over Niagara CCC on Saturday.  The win propels the Pioneers to 12-17 overall record (6-8 in WNYAC play) and the #4 seed in next week's Region III Division II Tournament.

Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) capped a career night by hitting a game winning jumper with seven seconds left to lift Alfred State to a key 85-83 victory over Niagara CCC on Saturday.  The win propels the Pioneers to 12-17 overall record (6-8 in WNYAC play) and the #4 seed in next week's Region III Division II Tournament.

Alfred State led by five, 46-41 at half and led by as many as 11 in the second half but the Blazers battled back and took back the lead with under five minutes left.  ASC and NCCC traded leads down the stretch before Wilson hit the long two-pointer to give ASC the 85-83 lead.  Yanni Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) stole the Blazer ensuing possesion to seal the victory.

Wilson finished 10 for 17 from the field including 7 for 11 from three and 6 for 6 from the foul line to finished with a career high 33 points.  Gobezai added 21 points and seven assists while Chris Dalton (Elmira Free) chipped in 11 points.

ASC hit 13 of their 24 three points attempts (54.2%) on the game.

Dyrell Dolson led Niagara with 26 points and 12 rebounds while Robbie Seyler finished with 21 points.  AJ Roberts added 19 pionts and seven boards.

The Pioneers and the Blazers will meet again on Tuesday in the first round of the Region III Division II Tournament.  #4 ASC will host by virtue of the regular season sweep of the #5 Blazers.  Opening tip-off at the Orvis Activities Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
