In a battle of the top two teams in Region III Division III volleyball, #9 Alfred State (18-2) came away with a 3-0 victory over #8 Jamestown CC (21-3) on Tuesday.  After falling behind 14-2 early in game one of the match the Lady Pioneers rallied for a 31-29 victory and then went on to win the next two games 25-20, and 25-16.

Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) led the way with 24 kills (only one error in 41 attempts, 10 digs, and three blocks.  Emily Linn (Portville) had a solid day with 11 kills, seven digs, and two solo blocks, Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) finished with 23 digs and nine kills, and Breanna Horton (Owego Free) chipped in 44 assists, 11 digs, and four kills.  Miki Inoue (Kumamoto, Japan) had 12 digs while Christina Nolan (Niagara Wheatfield) had eight digs.

The Blue and Gold continue their homestand on Thursday when they host Corning CC at 6 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center.
