Two Lady Pioneers All-Tournament at Nationals

Two Lady Pioneer volleyball players earned All-Tournament honors at the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament this weekend in Rochester, MN.  Sophomore Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) and freshman Miki Inoue (Kumamoto, Japan) were each selected All-Tournament team members.

Two Lady Pioneer volleyball players earned All-Tournament honors at the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament this weekend in Rochester, MN.  Sophomore Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) and freshman Miki Inoue (Kumamoto, Japan) were each selected All-Tournament team members.

In three matches, Toyodome accumulated 41 kills, including 17 in the opening match versus Hibbing CC.  She also had 31 digs and four service aces to go along with her team high eight blocks.  Inoue finished the tournament with a team leading 46 digs.  She also tallied 14 kills, three service aces and one block.

The Lady Pioneers finished the National Tournament in 4th place with a 2-1 record.  Alfred State opened up with a loss to Hibbing CC 3-1 and then went on to defeat Anne Arundel CC 3-0 and Nassau CC 3-0.

The 4th place finish was the best in program history.  The Lady Pioneers close out the year with a 38-4 record.
