Turnovers Prove Costly to Lady Pioneers

The Alfred State College women's basketball team couldn't overcome 31 turnovers in a 95-69 loss to Lakeland (OH) CC.  The Lady Pioneers finish the 2009 portion of their season with a 8-6 mark.

Zipporah Tidwell led four Lady Lakers in double figures with 27 points and nine rebounds.  SirShawna Dowdy finished with 22 points and seven assists, Tiara Roberts had a double double with 21 points and 10 boards, and Sierra Morris chipped in 18.

Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) led the Lady Pioneers with 23 points and eight boards while Danielle Conway (Bainbridge Guilford) chipped in 11.  Shawna McNeil (Hornell) came off the bench and finished with 10 points and five rebounds.

Lakeland led 42-34 at halftime but outscored the Lady Pioners 53-35 in the second stanza.  Lakeland shot 58.8% from the field in the second half and 52.1% overall.  ASC shot 43.3% from the field for the contest.

The Pioneers return to action on January 13 when they host Elmira College JV at 6 p.m.
