Two Alfred State College track & field athletes placed at the 2010 Empire State Games in Buffalo.  Pioneer alum Andy Omoregie (Gates Chili) won a gold medal while incoming freshman Byron Jones (Niagara Falls) won a silver.

Two Alfred State College track & field athletes placed at the 2010 Empire State Games in Buffalo.  Pioneer alum Andy Omoregie (Gates Chili) won a gold medal while incoming freshman Byron Jones (Niagara Falls) won a silver.

Omoregie joined western region teammates Brian Smith, Johnathan Santana, and Reinhardt Wende to win the gold medal in the 4 x 100 relay.  They finished the race in 41.58.

Jones earned a 2nd place finish and the silver medal with a leap of 13.89 for the western region team.

In total nine athletes with Alfred State ties (alum or current athletes) competed in the summer Empire State games.
