The Alfred State College lacrosse team will enter this week's Region III Tournament as the #6 seed. The Pioneers finished the regular season with an 8-5 overall record and a 7-4 mark in Region III contests.
In their first round match-up the Blue and Gold will travel to #3 Hudson Valley CC to battle the Vikings. ASC and HVCC did not meet in the regular season. The Vikings will enter the contest with a 13-4 overall record and a 10-3 record in Region III play.
Bill Jolly (Waterloo) and Ryan Grogan (Churchville) have led the Pioneers in scoring. Jolly has 40 goals and 17 assists on the yea while Grogan has 15 goals and a team-high 36 assists. Josh Mateo (Waterloo) has 49 points, Ben Rossignolo (Churchville) and William Ardolino (William Floyd) each have 37 points, and Mitch Wensel (Corning East) has 34 points on the season.
Deljae Edwards (Syracuse/Nottingham) and Jeff Fabbri (West Warwick, RI) has both seen significant time in net for the Blue and Gold. Edwards is 5-2 on the year while Fabbri is 3-3.
The winner of this contest will take on the winner of #2 Onondaga CC and #7 Jefferson CC in the semifinals at Herkimer CCC on Saturday.
