Second Half Run Lifts Cuyahoga past ASC

Cuyahoga (OH) CC used a 20 to 5 run in the second half to break a 42-42 tie en route to a 71-62 victory over Alfred State on Thursday evening.  The Pioneers are now 2-4 on the year.

Cuyahoga (OH) CC used a 20 to 5 run in the second half to break a 42-42 tie en route to a 71-62 victory over Alfred State on Thursday evening.  The Pioneers are now 2-4 on the year.

Cuyahoga led 32-17 late in the first half but ASC went on a 17-0 run to gaina 34-32 lead.  The teams traded leads and were tied at 42-42 prior to the Challengers game deciding run.

Younatan Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) led four Pioneers in double figures with 17 points.  Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) finished with 15 points and six rebounds, Rasean Parris (Benjamin Banneker) finished with 11 points and six boards, and Lydell Wilson (Freeport) chipped in 11 points.

Darnelle Rushton led Cuyahoga off the bench with 16 points and nine rebounds.  Martell Brown finished with 11 and Joshua King netted 10 and grabbed seven boards off the bench.

ASC shot just 29.4% from the field in the first half and was just 1 for 19 from three-point land but shot 45.5% in the second half.  Cuyahoga shot 47.1% fromt he field on the day and held a 49 to 36 advantage on the boards.
