The Alfred State College men's basketball team downed Rockland CC 66-53 to claim the ASC Tournament title.  The Pioneers are now 11-1 in the six years of the ASC Tournament and even their 2009-10 record to 5-5.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team downed Rockland CC 66-53 to claim the ASC Tournament title.  The Pioneers are now 11-1 in the six years of the ASC Tournament and even their 2009-10 record to 5-5.

Tournament MVP Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) led the blue & gold with 22 points and eight boards.  He finished 8 for 13 from the field and 4 for 5 from three.  Younatan Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) camed off the bench and finished with eight points while Rasean Parris (Benjamine Banneker) and Lydell Wilson (Freeport) both chipped in seven each.  For the second straight night Sir Aaron Taylor (Lincoln Hall) was huge off the bench finishing with six points and 16 rebounds.

John Oakes led Rockland, who suffers their first loss of the season (9-1) with 16 points while Keven Philius came off the bench and added 14.  Josh McKinley chipped in nine points and six boards.

ASC bulit a 36-24 at half and was able to withstand all Rockland's attempts of a comeback.  The Pioneers shot 41.5% from the field, 40% (8 for 20) from three, and 72.7% from the line while the Hawks shot 36% from the field, 23.8% from three, and just 50% (12 for 24) from the line.

Wilson was joined on the all-tournament team by Taylor, Rockland's McKinley and Philius, Jefferson CC's Terence Henderson, and Fulton Montgomery CC's Ashton Pacall.  Jefferson downed Fulton Montgomery 75-67 in the consolation game.

The Pioneers have the Thanksgiving weekend off and return to action on December 1 when they travel to Finger Lakes CC for a 8 p.m. tip-off.
