Pioneers Squeeze Past Rock Valley

The Alfred State College baseball team closed out their trip to Cocoa, FL by squeezing past Rock Valley (IL) College 2-1 on Thursday.  The blue & gold won their final four games of their trip to head back to Alfred with a 4-3 mark.

The Alfred State College baseball team closed out their trip to Cocoa, FL by squeezing past Rock Valley (IL) College 2-1 on Thursday.  The blue & gold won their final four games of their trip to head back to Alfred with a 4-3 mark.

With one out in the bottom of the 7th, Anthony Espe (Union Endicott) executed a squeeze play that plated Travis Fenstermaker (LeRoy) with the winning run.

Andrew Alexander (LeRoy) led the offense with a 2 for 2 day while Fenstermaker was 2 for 3.  Kevan Smith (Cicero North Syracuse) drove home a run in the 4th.

Garrett Hoag (Dansville) tossed an excellent game on the mound.  He scattered nine hits in seven innings of work while striking out 10.  He allowed just one earned run.

The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Bethlehem, PA to take on Northampton CC in a Noon doubleheader.
