The Alfred State College baseball team recorded their first win of the 2008 season on Sunday afternoon in a 5-4 victory over Ridgewater (MN) CC.  The team is now 1-3 on the year.

The Alfred State College baseball team recorded their first win of the 2008 season on Sunday afternoon in a 5-4 victory over Ridgewater (MN) CC.  The team is now 1-3 on the year.

Craig Koznikowski (N. Tonawanda) tossed a complete game four-hitter to earn the victory.  He allowed four earned runs while striking out five and walking three.

Derek Speaker (Starpoint) led the offense with a 2 for 3, 2 RBI performance while Kevin Underhill (Somers) was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Bryan Lance (Chenango Forks) was 1 for 2 with two runs scored.

ASC jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning and answered Ridgewater's two runs in the 3rd with two more runs in the 4th inning.

On Saturday afternoon, the Pioneers fell 14-5 to Massasoit (MA) CC.  The Warriors scored nine runs in the 2nd inning to take control of the game.

Speaker was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored while Underhill was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. 

The Blue and Gold's southern trip to Cocoa, FL continues on Monday with a 4 p.m. contest versus Illinois Valley CC.
