The Alfred State women's soccer team won their sixth straight as they stung Broome CC 2-0. The Pioneers used two pretty first half goals to improve to 6-1 on the year while the Lady Hornets fall to 4-3.

The Alfred State women's soccer team won their sixth straight as they stung Broome CC 2-0.  The Pioneers used two pretty first half goals to improve to 6-1 on the year while the Lady Hornets fall to 4-3.


Taylor Dezio (Marion) got the blue & gold on the board just 3:37 into the game when she scored after getting a pass from Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond).  Maura Tuffey (Albany/Holy Names) was credited with the second assist.


Hannah Holmok (Alfred Almond) made it 2-0 in the 25th minute after getting a pass from Danielle Richardson (Hornell).  Kerri Bellavia (Greece Athena) picked up the secondary assist.


Alfred held a 22 to 7 shot advantage in the game.  Krista DeCarlo (Bayshore/West Islip) made three saves to record the shutout.  DeCarlo received a solid effort in front of her from the defensive back-three of Tuffey, Kelsey Murray (Greece Olympia) and Kelly Stieve (Brockport).


The Lady Pioneers, ranked #5 in the NJCAA DIII poll, head to Niagara CCC on Saturday for a 1 p.m. start vs. the Thunderwolves.
