For the second day in a row, the Alfred State College baseball team fell in eight innings.  Sunday, the blue & gold fell 8-7 to ASA Institute.

The Pioneers got the offense going early and led 6-3 after two innings but the Avengers chipped away and tied the game at 7-7 with two outs in the bottom of the 7th.  ASA took the win with a game-winning double with out in the 8th.

Andrew Alexander (LeRoy) led the offense with a 3 for 4 day.  He also knocked in two runs.  Garrett Hoag (Dansville), Kevan Smith (Cicero North Syracuse), and Daniel Sill (Lansing) all drove home runs.

Hoag allowed four earned runs in six innings of work but did not factor in the decision.  He allowed four hits and struck out six.

The Pioneers (0-3) will look for their first win on Monday when they take on Rock Valley (IL) College at 4 p.m. at Cocoa Expo.
