Niagara CCC used a 22-6 run to start the 2nd half and then held off a furious Alfred State rally to win 71-67 in a back and forth WNYAC contest at the Orvis Activities Center.  The game was tied at 36-36 at the half.

After hitting six out of their 11 three-point attempts in the 1st half, the Pioneers didn't connect on a three in the 2nd half in 11 attempts.  On the other hand, NCCC connected on eight three's for the game including three 3-pointers during the pivotal 22-6 run.

The Pioneers (5-12, 0-4 WNYAC) trailed by as many as 16, 58-42, with just under 13 minutes left in the contest before making a run the rest of the game.  They cut the lead to down to two points twice in the final of the seconds of the game but could not get any closer.

Alex Hall (Jamaica/Forest Hills) led the blue & gold with 23 points and seven rebounds.  Patrick Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) finished with 21 points and Rasheem Creech (Brooklyn/Transit Tech) chipped in 12.  DaQuan Allen (Brooklyn/Boys & Girls) passed out eight assists on the night.

Vince Kazmierczak led the Thunderwolves (10-6, 1-2 WNYAC) with 16 points while Lorenzo Joseph chipped in 12.  Conner Vandergriff and Jacob Hughes each had 10.

Alfred State shot 53.3% for the game, 27.3% from three, and 68.4% from the line.  They were slowed down by 21 turnovers.  NCCC shot 49% from the floor, 40% from three, and 61.9% from the line.

The Pioneers continue their three-game homestand on Saturday when they host Mercyhurst North East.  Opening tip is scheduled for 3 p.m.
