Men's Swim team wins again, Women place 4th

The Alfred State College men's swim team won their second consecutive invitational on Saturday while the women finished 4th at SUNY Cobleskill.

The Alfred State College men's swim team won their second consecutive invitational on Saturday while the women finished 4th at SUNY Cobleskill.

Alex Newell (Binghamton), Phllip Valenta (Maine Endwell), Paul Congdon (Bath), and Brett Kozlowski (N. Tonawanda) had big days for the Blue and Gold.  The quartet paired up to win both the 400 medley relay (4:05.93) and the 400 free relay (3:38.12).

Newell also won three individual events.  He won the 1650 free (19:15.55), the 500 free (5:23.07), and the 100 free (53.0).  Congdon won the 200 free (2:02.3) and the 200 fly (2:30.43), Kozlowski won the 200 breast (2:36.68) and the 400 IM (4:47), while Valenta finished 2nd in the 400 IM (5:14.54).  Tim Goodrich (Iroquois) also picked up a win in the 200 back (2:25.07).

Kaitlyn Corbett (Clarence) won the three events on the women's side.  She won the 200 free (2:15.45), the 100 free (1:01.37), and the 200 back (2:34.67).

Becca Mastasio (Livonia) finished the day with a 1st place finish in the 500 free (6:17.9) and 2nd place finishes in the 200 free (2:17.44) and the 100 free (1:02.51).

ASC returns to action on December 1 when they travel to the SUNY Delhi Invitational.  Action is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
