Men's Cross Country Finishes 2nd at Nationals

For the second year in a row the Alfred State College men's cross country team finished as national runner-ups at the NJCAA Division III National Championships.  The Pioneers scored a 90 trailing just SUNY Delhi's 40.

For the second year in a row the Alfred State College men's cross country team finished as national runner-ups at the NJCAA Division III National Championships.  The Pioneers scored a 90 trailing just SUNY Delhi's 40.

Joe Seitz (Williamsville) led the Pioneers with a 8th place finish.  He finished the 8k course at Sunken Meadow Park at Suffolk CC in 28:14.4.  Alex Farrell (N. Tonawanda) was 11th (28:22.7), Frank Mastraccio (Rome Free) was 13th (28:25.5), and Ryan Demers (Mexico) was 20th (28:54.6).  Derek Snyder (Bath) was 5th in with a 40th place finish (29:51.2).  Brandon Lewis (Red Creek) was 49th (30:13.1) while Isaiah Whiting (Hamden, CT) rounded out the Pioneers entry in 61st (30:39.6).

Gloucester (NJ) CC was 3rd with 116, Mohawk Valley 4th (130), Hudson Valley CC was 5th (133), Brookdale (NJ) CC was 6th (146), Harper (IL) College was 7th (201), Finger Lakes CC was 8th (236), Suffolk CC was 9th (254), and Broome CC was 10th (278).

ASC entered two women in the national championship with Abbey Benton (Frewsburg) finishing 13th.  She ran the 5k course in 21:34.1.  Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) was 33rd (22:42.2).
