Men's Cross Country finishes 10th

The Alfred State College men's cross country team registered another top ten finish at Saturday's NJCAA Division III National Championship.  The Pioneers finished 10th out of 18 teams at the 8k race held at Sunken Meadow State Park in Selden, NY.

The Alfred State College men's cross country team registered another top ten finish at Saturday's NJCAA Division III National Championship.  The Pioneers finished 10th out of 18 teams at the 8k race held at Sunken Meadow State Park in Selden, NY.

Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) earned 2nd team All-American honors with a 6th place finish.  He crossed the finish line in 29:09.96 to improve form his 11th  place finish in 2006.

Corey Smith (Wallkill) finished 46th (30:11.02), Josh Schmidbauer (Royalton Hartland) finished 62nd (31:10.32), and Hector Cuero (Middletown) crossed the line in 63rd (31:12.74).  Sam Estes (Wheatland Chili) rounded out the top five with a 78th place finish (31:55.03) while Scott Ross (Webster) finished 79th (31:55.25).  Michael Kaplan (Tri-Valley) also competed and finished 93rd (33:06.85).

SUNY Delhi won the men's title with a score of 56.  The College of DuPage finished 2nd (89 points) and Mohawk Valley CC finished 3rd (134 points).  A-State finished with 248 points and were only three points away from finishing in 9th place.

 Most of the cross country runners now shift their focus to the upcoming indoor track and field season which begins competition in early January.
