The Alfred State College volleyball team swept Corning CC 25-11, 25-10, 25-8 in the Region III Division III quarterfinals on Saturday.  The Lady Pioneers will take on #5 Mohawk Valley CC in the semifinals on Sunday.

The Alfred State College volleyball team swept Corning CC 25-11, 25-10, 25-8 in the Region III Division III quarterfinals on Saturday.  The Lady Pioneers will take on #5 Mohawk Valley CC in the semifinals on Sunday.

Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) led the way for ASC (34-3 and ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll) with 13 kills, nine digs, two aces, and two blocks while Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) added nine kills and three digs.  Emily Linn (Portville) finished with nine digs and five kills, Breanna Horton (Owego Free) passed out 23 assists and had three digs, Miki Inoue (Kumamota, Japan) registered seven kills, and two aces.

In other quarterfinal action #2 Jamestown CC downed #7 Hudson Valley CC 3-0, #6 Monroe CC defeated #3 Niagara CC 3-1, and #5 Mohawk Valley earned a 3-0 win over #4 Adirondack CC.

Semifinal action is set for 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Orvis Activities Center.  The winners of the semis advance to the finals scheduled for 1:30 p.m.  The Region III Division III champion advances to the NJCAA Division III National Championships in Rochester, MN.
