The Alfred State women's basketball team earned their seventh straight victory on Tuesday with a 86-74 victory over Genesee CC. The Lady Pioneers are now 17-8 overall and 6-3 in Region III Division II play.
Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) had a monster night recording a double-double. She was 15 for 25 from the field for a career high 34 points to led the Lady Pioneers. She also grabbed 26 rebounds (14 offensive rebounds) and blocked six shots. Amie Brooks chipped in 19 points and Camille Romero (Queens Village) finished with 15. Nuri Bey (Bronx/HS of Computers & Technology) netted 10 points.
The Pioneers led 31-28 at half and then shot 55% in the 2nd half and netted 55 points.
The Pioneers play their final regular season game on Thursday when they take on Jamestown CC. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center. Jamestown and Alfred are battling for the #2 seed and most likely will be facing off in the Region III Division II semifinals next Saturday.
