The Alfred State College women's basketball team held Elmira JV to just nine points in the 1st half en route to a 68-40 victory on Monday evening.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 4-2 on the year while the Soaring Eagles drop to 0-1.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team held Elmira JV to just nine points in the 1st half en route to a 68-40 victory on Monday evening.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 4-2 on the year while the Soaring Eagles drop to 0-1.

Anthia Smith (Elmira Free) led the way with 25 points and 10 boards.  She was 7 for 13 from the line and 11 for 12 from the foul line.  Tiffany McLaughlin (Wellsville) finished with 12 points while Kaila Smith (Alfred Almond) finished with seven points off the bench. 

Michelle Pratt led Elmira with 10 points while Katie Filatrault and Brittnee McGuire each finished with seven points.

ASC shot 43.1% (25 for 58) from the field while Elmira shot just 20% including 7.1% in the 1st half.  The Blue and Gold was 15 for 23 from the foul line while the Eagles were 13 for 25.

A-State returns to action on Friday in the opening round of the annual ASC Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers tangle with Jefferson CC at 5 p.m. while Dean (MA) College takes on Fulton Montgomery CC at 7 p.m.
