The Alfred State College women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 63-45 victory over Jefferson CC in the first round of the ASC Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers are now 2-4 on the season and will take on Dean College in the championship game of the tournament at Noon on Sunday.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 63-45 victory over Jefferson CC in the first round of the ASC Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers are now 2-4 on the season and will take on Dean College in the championship game of the tournament at Noon on Sunday.

Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) led three Lady Pioneers that finished in double figures.  She finished with a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Sherelle Brooks (Elmira Free) chipped in 13 points while Kristin Abbott (Webster Thomas) added 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. 

Patricia Dawson was the lone Lady Cannoneer finishing in double figures.  She came off the bench and finished with 11.  Kelsey Schloop and Dana Stenhouse each chipped in eight points.

ASC led 27-12 at halftime but JCC cut into the lead in the 2nd half closing within four points before the Pioneers went on a run in the last five minutes to seal the victory.

Dean College (MA) defeated Fulton Montgomery CC 87-68 in the other first round match-up.  Shelley Monahan led the way with 30 points while Jenna DiCruttalo finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds.  Natalie Masconi led FMCC with 21 points while Amber Shamberger finished with 19.

Fulton Montgomery will take on Jefferson CC on Sunday at 10 a.m. while Alfred State and Dean College will play for the championship at Noon.
