Lady Pioneer Softball Falls in Wild Opener

The Alfred State College softball team opened up the 2009 season with a wild contest versus WNYAC foe Genesee CC in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Lady Pioneers fell behind 6-2 early and couldn't rally all the way back and fell 10-9.

The Alfred State College softball team opened up the 2009 season with a wild contest versus WNYAC foe Genesee CC in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Lady Pioneers fell behind 6-2 early and couldn't rally all the way back and fell 10-9.

After two innings, GCC led 6-2.  ASC chipped away and had the tying run on base in the 7th inning but couldn't push it across.

Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) led ASC with a 2 for 5 day.  She also scored three runs.  Kelly Eagan (Royalton Hartland) was 1 for 2 with 3 RBI, Jessica Herbst (Naples) was 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Holly Fitzpatrick (Hornell) was 1 for 2 with three walks.

The Lady Pioneers will begin their official snowbird softball schedule on Monday with a doubleheader.  ASC takes on Rochester (MN) CTC at 9:30 a.m. and Dutchess CC at 11:30 a.m.  Alfred State is scheduled to play doubleheaders for the next four days.
