Lady Pioneer Softball Falls in Wild Opener

The Alfred State College softball team opened up the 2009 season with a wild contest versus WNYAC foe Genesee CC in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Lady Pioneers fell behind 6-2 early and couldn't rally all the way back and fell 10-9.

After two innings, GCC led 6-2.  ASC chipped away and had the tying run on base in the 7th inning but couldn't push it across.

The Lady Pioneers will begin their official snowbird softball schedule on Monday with a doubleheader.  ASC takes on Rochester (MN) CTC at 9:30 a.m. and Dutchess CC at 11:30 a.m.  Alfred State is scheduled to play doubleheaders for the next four days.
