The Alfred State College lacrosse team opened up their 2009 season with a convincing 13-6 victory over Harford (MD) CC in Bel Air, MD on Thursday.  Six Pioneers found the back of the net in the victory.

The Alfred State College lacrosse team opened up their 2009 season with a convincing 13-6 victory over Harford (MD) CC in Bel Air, MD on Thursday.  Six Pioneers found the back of the net in the victory.

Ryan Grogan (Churchville) led the offensive attack with four goals and three assists while William Ardolino (William Floyd) netted four goals and passed out two assists.  Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) scored a goal and passed out four helpers, Ben Rossignolo (Churchville) scored twice, and Ryan Speciale (Corning West) had a goal and an assist.  Josh Mateo (Waterloo) also netted a goal.

In net, Donald Merritt (Marcellus) played the whole way and recorded his first career victory with 15 saves.

ASC led 4-2 after the first quarter and 8-3 at halftime.

The Pioneers continue their southern trip tomorrow with a 1 p.m. contest versus Delaware Tech.  The game will be played at Wesley College.
