Johnson Named Region Athlete of the Week

Alfred State College running back DeAndre Johnson (Detroit, MI) has been named the Region III male athlete of the week following his first 100-yard rushing game of his collegiate career.  Johnson helped the Pioneers to a 33-0 victory over Williamson College on Saturday.

DeAndre JohnsonAlfred State College running back DeAndre Johnson (Detroit, MI) has been named the Region III male athlete of the week following his first 100-yard rushing game of his collegiate career.  Johnson helped the Pioneers to a 33-0 victory over Williamson College on Saturday.

Johnson  carried the ball 13 times for 150 yards and two scores on the day.  He ran for a 31-yard touchdown in the 2nd quarter and a 78-yard touchdown in the 4th quarter.  He also caught one pass for 26 yards.

On the season he has rushed for 293 yards and four scores on 41 carries.  He is averaging 7.1 yards per carry and 97.7 yards per game.

Johnson is the second Pioneer male athlete to win the weekly Region award as Kyle Binder (soccer) won the award.

Alfred State returns to action on Saturday when they host NFC rival Hudson Valley CC at Noon.
